What women’s health in primary care includes

Many women’s health needs are best met by a primary care team that also knows your blood pressure, thyroid, weight and family history. At Voss Family Clinic, a board-certified internal medicine physician and a family nurse practitioner provide well-woman exams and treat the everyday problems that bring women in, in a calm, private setting.

For pregnancy care, surgery and complex gynecologic conditions, we refer you to an obstetrician-gynecologist and continue to manage the rest of your health alongside them.

  • Annual well-woman exam with Pap and HPV testing on schedule
  • Breast exam and mammogram referral
  • Birth control counseling and prescriptions
  • Menopause symptom care, UTIs, vaginal infections and menstrual concerns

Screenings and care by stage of life

Recommendations change with age. Your provider tailors them to your history, but this is the general pattern for healthy women.

Twenties and thirties

  • Pap test every 3 years from age 21, or HPV testing every 5 years from age 30
  • Contraception that fits your plans, and preconception advice if you are planning pregnancy
  • Blood pressure yearly; cholesterol and diabetes screening with risk factors
  • STD screening based on risk

Forties and fifties

  • Mammogram every 1 to 2 years from age 40
  • Colorectal cancer screening from age 45
  • Cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes screening
  • Perimenopause and menopause symptom care

Sixties and beyond

  • Bone density screening from age 65, earlier with risk factors
  • Continued mammograms and colorectal screening as recommended
  • Vaccines: shingles, pneumococcal, flu and COVID-19
  • Heart health, since risk rises after menopause

Still have questions?

Our front desk can answer questions about visits and confirm your insurance before you come in.

Call (281) 617-8671

Do you do Pap smears?

Yes. Pap and HPV testing are done during the well-woman exam on the schedule recommended for your age: Pap every 3 years from 21, or HPV testing every 5 years from 30, when results are normal.

Do you provide prenatal care?

No. We confirm pregnancy, start prenatal vitamins and refer you to an obstetrician for prenatal care, and we continue managing your other health needs alongside your OB.

Can I get birth control here?

Yes. We counsel on options and prescribe pills, the patch, the ring and injections. For IUDs and implants we refer you to a gynecologist.

Do you treat menopause symptoms?

Yes. Hot flashes, sleep disruption, mood changes and vaginal dryness can be treated with hormonal or non-hormonal options after a review of your risks.

Can I see a female provider?

Asma Rehman, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, and Dr. Humera Naqvi are both women. Let the front desk know your preference when you schedule.

Can I combine my well-woman exam with my annual physical?

Yes. Most patients do both in one visit.

What insurance do you accept?

Voss Family Clinic accepts most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ambetter, Medicare and Medicare-Medicaid dual plans. Coverage depends on your specific plan and network, so call (281) 617-8671 with your card ready and the front desk will confirm your benefits before your visit.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Voss Family Clinic is accepting new adult patients for primary care. Your first visit can be a walk-in, a scheduled appointment or a sick visit, and the same team continues your care afterward.
